Digicel
Continues to Demonstrate Its Support for Local Nurses
Date Posted: July 28, 2008.
THE VALLEY, ANGUILLA. Local mobile telecommunications giant,
Digicel, has once again shown its commitment to the
Anguillian Community by contributing to the further
education and development of local nurses at the 26th Annual
Conference of the Caribbean Nurses Association.
Monies donated by Digicel will be used to send at least 3
local nurses to this important conference from July 27th –
August 1st in Guadeloupe.
The overarching emphasis for this conference is to closely
examine and revisit the Organization’s ten year strategic
plan for nurses in the Caribbean.
Among the activities which are slated for the conference
would be several education sessions to aid nurses
development and develop their roles as leaders in health,
nursing care and policy.
According to Digicel’s Country Manager, Ms Stephenie Brooks,
“Digicel is extremely pleased to once again support the
nurses and as a result the community as a whole benefits.
The better educated and equipped our health personnel are,
the more efficient our health care system will be.”
Ms. Brooks also emphasized on the importance of such
conferences saying “health has been and continues to be an
essential pillar in any society. In these days of pandemics
and endemics it is increasingly important that the health
sector is shored up and supported so that they can
effectively meet the challenges we face in our ever changing
world.”
Digicel, the fastest growing telecommunications provider in
the Caribbean, is well known throughout the region for
showing support and involving itself in the communities in
which it operates.
