FPLA  has terminated in excess of 60 local and regional employees in recent months and in late July attempted to temporarily layoff  local contractors affecting as many as 70 additional workers. This move precipitated a letter from the Government, which among other things insisted that Anguilllians were to be the last group of employees asked to cease work and also asked for the repatriation of foreign workers (predominantly Chinese) if all work on the property were to cease.
