Ms. Alexandra Ballin of Keene Enterprises and Mr. Vanburn
Brooks have sponsored the uniforms for the male National
Volleyball Team of Anguilla. The team will be participating
in the annual O.E.C.S male Volleyball championships which
will be held in ST. Kitts, from August 14th-17th,
2008.
The former, Keene Enterprise has a 25 year history of
providing excellent products and services to Anguilla.
However, most importantly this establishment has been
assisting many organizations within the community since its
inception. Some organizations include the Soroptimist club,
Red Cross, Road Primary School Reading Center, Arrays
Children Foundation and the Tennis Academy summer program.
The other donor, Mr. Brooks is a young architect and a
former Cadet Core leader.
These two young entrepreneurs are excellent reminders of
the many positive forces at work in Anguilla. The Anguilla
Amateur Volleyball Association would like to express its
sincere gratitude to both sponsors for assistance in
obtaining the uniforms. The eleven man squad has been
coached by Mr. Justus Connor and is composed of:-

During the ceremony, Mrs. Heather Richardson who was
instrumental in securing tournament funding and Vice
president of the association highlighted several initiatives
of the association. One such measure is the development of
male and female junior tournaments and national squads. She
further appealed to youngsters to come out and train to
develop their volleyball skills. It was also mentioned
there are several regional Junior and Youth tournaments that
are available for participation.
Mrs. Althea Hodge, a former volleyball executive member and
manager of the Anguilla Development Board reaffirmed the
Board’s commitment to the revival of the sport. She was
also enamored about the prospect of sponsoring a junior team
for upcoming regional and international tournaments.
Consequently the Anguilla Amateur Volleyball Association
would like to express its gratitude to the Anguilla
Development Board for its continued sponsorship of the
Business league tournament, to the teams for participating
and to the Sports Department for technical assistance. It is
hoped more teams can participate in next year’s tournament.
