Police in Anguilla had a busy 2 week period spanning July 30 through August 13.

While the general atmosphere on the island was festive through most of the Carnival week, police in Anguilla were kept busy with criminal activity and traffic offenses.

During the period of July 30 through August 13.  there were thirty three (33) Traffic Accidents recorded, of which one was classified as serious and one was a fatal accident which took the life of 33-year-old Clinton Richardson.

In addition, there were  forty nine (49) crime reports recorded between the 30th July and 13th August. The offences included fourteen (14) reports of theft, one (01) report attempted theft, seven (07) reports of burglary, four (04) reports of attempted burglary, twelve (12) reports of criminal damage, one (01) report of fraud, two (02) reports of robbery, two (02) reports of grievous bodily harm, one (01) report of incest, one (01) report of wounding, one (01) report of taking without payment, one (01) possession of a firearm, one (01) possession of cannabis and one (01) murder.

Theft
The fourteen (14) thefts reported occurred in The Valley, West End, Stoney Ground, Sandy Ground, South Hill, East End, Blowing Point and Island Harbour. The items reported stolen in these theft cases included:  Sand, five(05) cellular phones, one(01) bicycle, one (01) wallet containing credit cards, and an unknown amount of cash, coconut trees, one(01) laptop computer, two(02) gold chains, one(01) pair of shades, three hundred dollars ($300.00US) and three car tires.

Burglary
The seven reported cases of burglary occurred in the villages of South Hill, The Valley, North Side, Corito, and Sandy Hill. The items stolen in these cases were one (01) shirt, one (01) stove, a washing machine, a video camera, four (04) pairs of Air Force shoes , two (02) pairs of Nike shoes, one (01) television, one (01) stereo set, a set of keys and two thousand dollars EC in cash ($2000.00EC).

Arrests
The thirty five (35) persons arrested for the period were all males. Two (02) were arrested and charged for grievous bodily harm, nine (09) arrested and charged for disorderly conduct and throwing missiles, two(02) were arrested and charged for criminal damage, one (01) was arrested for the possession of firearms, one (01) male was arrested for possession of cannabis, one(01) was arrested for incest, one(01) was arrested for murder, one(01) was arrested for forgery, one(01) was arrested for breach of court curfew, one(01) was arrested for breach of court order, one(01) was arrested for robbery, two(02) were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, five (05) were arrested for being armed with an offensive weapon and seven (07) were arrested to prevent a breach of the peace.
