Young man shot - RAPF appeals
for anyone with information to come forward.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the Royal Anguilla
Police Force is investigating a shooting incident that
occurred at Rey Hill on Sunday evening 17th August 2008.
The Police received a report at 10:43 p.m. indicating that
gun shots were fired in the Rey Hill area on the road south
of the water tank. Officers responded to the report and
commenced inquiries into the incident.
Mr. Collin Morton age 23 of Cauls Bottom sustained a gunshot
wound to the upper back portion of his left thigh. He was
transported to the Princess Alexandra hospital where he was
detained and treated for the injury.
The circumstances as the report indicates that, at 10:42
p.m., Mr. Collin Morton was sitting on his car at Rey Hill
next to a friend’s house when a vehicle drove up the road
and stopped suddenly, four armed assailants dressed in black
clothing and wearing masks exited the vehicle and opened
fire on Mr. Morton, striking him on the left thigh .The
vehicle on which Mr. Morton was sitting was also struck in
several places by the bullets.
It was also reported that one of the bullets damaged the
window of an apartment building in close proximity to the
incident which also caused damage to a television set.
The Royal Anguilla Police Force Criminal Investigation
Department and the Drugs and Firearm Task Force are
aggressively pursuing the investigation in to this incident.
They are appealing to anyone who may have been in the
vicinity of the water tank in Rey Hill or traveling on the
Rey Hill road between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Sunday 17th
August 2008 and may have witnessed this incident or have
information relating to this shooting incident are asked to
call the police station at telephone number 497 – 2333 or
speak to any police officer of your choice in confidence.
