Not to be out done by their male counterparts Jamaican
women swept the the top three positions in the women 100m
track final, dominating the top three positions.
21-year-old, Shelly Ann Fraser of Jamaica won the gold medal
in a time of 10.78s. Sherone Simpson and Kerron Stewart also
of Jamaica, tied for the the silver medal position with a
time of 10.98; securing Gold, Silver and an additional
Silver for the Caribbean Nation. One day earlier, Usain Bolt
of Jamaica decimated the Olympic record to win Gold in the
males 100m.
Debbie Ferguson of the Bahamas, the fourth
Caribbean athlete in the final, finished 7th. The
complete results are shown below.
The 2008 Olympics has confirmed, Jamaica, the Caribbean's
fastest nation, to be the world's fastest!
