| Jamaica's sprint phenomenon ran straight through a
"headwind" - opposing force, into the world record books yet
again. By a wide margin, Usain Bolt outclassed a field of
powerful sprinters taking the 200m world record with a new
time of 19.30s on his 22nd
birthday.
The Jamaican now owns the 100m and 200m world records.
Wallace Spearmon of the US was
disqualified for repeatedly stepping on the inner lane line.
For several minutes following the race, Spearmon had
celebrated what he believed to be a bronze medal finish.
Martina Churandy of the Netherland
Antilles who appeared to finish in the medals also suffered
a similar fate.
