Jason, Registe a young American male on the FBI's Top 10 Most
Wanted list was captured in St. Maarten on Wednesday
August 27. Registe was wanted by the FBI for his alleged
participation in a double homicide in Columbus, Georgia. On
July 20, 2007, two males sitting inside a truck suffered
execution-style gunshot wounds to the back of their heads.
One of the victims died at the scene and the other died
shortly afterward. Investigation determined that Michael
Jason Registe was suspected for these murders. Registe was
also wanted on the unrelated charge of aggravated assault
for a 2005 shooting which left the victim severely wounded.The arrest came following numerous tips after his airing
on America's Most Wanted led
authorities to a guest house in
the Belvedere section of St. Maarten.
Registe will have an extradition
hearing before he is returned to
the United States, a process
that could take as much as two
weeks.
According to the FBI's website, Registe has ties to St.
Thomas.
He also bears the tattoos: "South Side" on his
upper right arm, Chinese letters and the words "706 Ganxta"
on his upper left arm, and a picture of the cartoon
character Yosemite Sam with the words "Stick Up Kid" written
underneath it on his right forearm. |
